Understanding who is who
As far as our organisation is concerned, we are an NGO (Non-Governmental Organisation) that, in line with applicable regulations, does not distribute benefits to its members or founders (non-profit) but this does not mean with a view to loss. We want to build a solid structure that can achieve goals of general interest and not exclusively for our members and volunteers. Specifically, our target audience is Murcian society due to our scope in the first instance and the global society as a collateral effect. Our current legal form is Association and, like any association with aspirations, the aim is to eventually become a well-known and respected Foundation.
With the social role of this club clear, all that remains is to define your role
You will always be in one or more of these segments:
- Member: Those who have decided to join our organisational structure, working towards the entity's goals. (You can always find and display these on our website homepage). They usually pay an annual fee and get involved in governing bodies making management or execution decisions for the achievement of activities.
- Volunteer: Those who decide to contribute their time to the achievement of the organisation's goals and activities. Their bond and commitment is as high as that of members, but they have less responsibility and do not pay fees or have obligations regarding meetings and governing bodies.
- Beneficiary: Citizens who benefit from the organisation's activities. The organisation's aim is to have the highest possible number of beneficiaries, as this is the most important indicator that the work carried out is beneficial to society.
- Donor: People who believe in the entity's philosophy and principles and who, for personal reasons or impossibility, do not participate with their time in the organisation but do donate through financial or material contributions.
If you still don't know what an NGO is, what «non-profit» means or the incentives and tax deductions for donations to an NGO, this excellent article from the Fundación Lealtad where you can find a detailed explanation of all these concepts: Fundación Lealtad – Guía para entender quién es quién.
Public utility and tax deductions
At present #MurciaTIP does not have the public utility declaration from the government, which means we cannot benefit from tax deductions for donations to NGOs. This only means we must work hard until we achieve this goal; it does not mean we are not useful to society, but that we do not yet have the impact needed for institutions to take our activities seriously in an official capacity.
As usual, support is more important to have now when it is needed than in a few years when it may not be as necessary. You are here at an ideal time as every problem presents an opportunity; our small size helps us for now to keep away people with selfish or unrelated interests to our philosophy.
Why become a member?
The best possible argument is to tell you about one of our maxims called «structured leisure». With few exceptions, you are surely surrounded by people with great ideas who always say they don't have time to put them into practice. Family, friends, work… Everything in life consumes time and no one teaches us how to manage black holes that can swallow three lifetimes. It is important to learn, once we have defined a project that interests us, to reach the solution through the premises:
- A great project must advance, even if I cannot devote time to it.
- A great project can advance, even if I devote very little time to it.
- A great project is one that is useful to the greatest number of people.
“And if there is no time, we must make it, by optimising other routines in your life.”
You probably already devote your leisure time to the stock market, radio, poetry, streaming… Wouldn't you like to have a club where you can unleash your potential with people like you? The feeling of community is one of the oldest that exists and it is important that this community is not toxic and that it makes you a better person. If your project is good for you it is surely good for many other people, so let's bring together like-minded people. Understanding that exchanging knowledge and pooling efforts makes any project go faster is essential.
By learning to optimise your leisure time and adding it to that of many other people, your own goals will be achieved sooner. Imagine everything that can be achieved with a little organisation and by reaching those goals to ever larger communities.
There will be times when no matter how much you optimise your time you will not be able to continue with your passion. Imagine other people continuing for you and a while later you return to find everything much further ahead than where you left it. This is the mindset that moves mountains: knowing that even with just one hour a day with eight aligned people it is as if one person were working full time on your passion.
There is nothing greater than helping others because you never know when you might need that help yourself. To bring financial culture to society you yourself must master financial culture; teaching something implies knowing it beyond the basics, so within the parameters of reasonable selfishness, helping others implies starting with yourself.
